Textiles illustration came from an unusual direction. During my Bachelor’s degree in illustration I was often told I was doing far too much work and that I had far too many ideas to manage at a time. So I found a medium that would be considerably more time consuming than other mediums. This would allow me more to think through my ideas and concentrate on conditioning the successful pieces rather than igniting five completely new ones.
My final project for my Bachelor’s degree was looking at how the media’s perception of women has a psychological effect on women in society. This was a very broad topic that I researched into great detail and thoroughly enjoyed. The final outcome was a series of ironic images stitched into fabric conveying key areas of my research.
